Extra Notes
Brush Buffering
CSP unfortunately has a buffering problem when it comes to large brush sizes and large canvases. I’ve documented the lags I’ve come across for certain brushes below (I’ll update it if I find any new ones):
- Dry Brush. Major speed buffering starts @ 250 pt size (12”x18” OR 3600x5400px canvas size). Brush still usable at slow speeds.
- R.Dry brush. Major speed buffering starts @ 250 pt size (12”x18” OR 3600x5400px canvas size). Brush still usable at slow speeds.
- Wet Damp Wash n Water brush. Major speed buffering starts @ 200 pt size (12”x18” OR 3600x5400px canvas size). Brush still usable at slow speeds.
- Palette Knife n Fuzz. Major speed buffering starts @ 150 pt size (12”x18” OR 3600x5400px canvas size). Brush still usable at slow speeds.
- Glaze Brush. A versatile air brush to experiment with Ink Blending Modes
Settings I normally tinker with (Painting Brushes):
***All brushes’ Tool Properties are configured to the most relevant editable dynamics.I don’t recommend changing the settings that aren’t listed in the Tool Properties window.***
- Brush Thickness. I usually toggle between 20-100% thickness; it’s the difference between the standard brush shape, and a thin line
- Brush Size. The majority of brush sizes are tilt sensitive. If your tablet/stylus isn’t tilt sensitive, I suggest toggling that feature off.
- Angle Dynamics. I toggle between “direction of line” and “direction of pen”
- Gap. Wider gaps often helps reduce lag when using bigger brush sizes
- Blending Mode. For the Glaze brush and the Glitch brushes, I usually tinker with different blending modes; I use ‘Eraser’ mode for glitch effects and Overlay for glazing. I encourage experimenting with other modes though, it’s what it’s there for after all :)
CSP Brushpack: 12 drawing brushes; 18 paint brushes; 10 texture/effect brushes
