Procreate Comic Kit (w/Print Guides)

New Update! (04/19/22)

I’ve added SCREENTONES! I know there is a halftone effect in Procreate, but that is layer dependent. I figured adding some for more variety and layer control wouldn’t hurt. Check out the new video in the preview for a demonstration of how it works. New file includes:

• (Free): 6 circle screen/halftones + 1 tone gradient
• (Premium): 6 circle tones, 6 square tones, 6 line tones + 2 tone gradients

All Screentones are 9inx12in 300DPI in size.

New Update! (09/27/21)

I’ve decided to add some more stuff to the kit. The old stuff is still there, but I’ve just added a few more things (as well as update the cover. Now there’s some promo and demonstration videos to help people out more).

• I have updated the main template to include an additional 9:16 ratio frame; I thought it might be helpful to those who make web comics.
• Speaking of web comics, I’ve also added a 800x2560px file for webtoon layouts and editing. I should stress that, since the resolution is very small, I only suggest using this file for post editing for web comics. 
  • The free webtoon file is set up to create two standard webtoon pages (800x1280px). In the premium version, the webtoon file can create four standard pages. Both files include the following:
    •  A 100px Grid w/ dividers (the procreate grid is set up as a divider, but I had a bit of trouble initially configuring it, so I’ve included a back 25px divider grid as a back up). There are also clear markers that indicate where each new page begins.
    • An optional border in case you don’t want your frames completely touching the edge.
    • And a Phone Screen Preview w/ a 1.1.7 ratio— this should help you to see how your page would look on most phone screens.
• The premium version (support the creator) has also seen an update with 10 new pre-made layouts, equaling 15 layouts in all, as well as the four page webtoon file.
  • (Note: some of the layouts may have a lot of layers used up already, so feel free to delete the ones you don’t need— they’re just guides to help you after all.)

The prices are still the same, and the people who have bought the premium should be able to download all the new files. If you can’t, please let me know.

Things to Consider:

• The timelapse function is turned off for all files. So please be sure to turn it back on if you want to use it
• The Canvas statistics are compromised. There isn’t a way to delete the statistic history of a procreate file (none that I know of), so if you are someone who cares about that, unfortunately there’s nothing I can do to fix it.
• Share (link) with your friends. From first-hand experience, making a comic in procreate isn’t easy, so hopefully other people may find this Kit makes things a little easier.

A basic comic kit I made for Procreate for myself while working on a project, and I decided I’d share. The kit includes an 8.5x11in Procreate template with:

-Print Marks for 7x10 prints

-1” Grid Marks w/ in-app .1” grid (resulting in 10 divisions)

-One starter rectangle panel to customize

Kit also includes:

-A comic pen for creating panels, balloons, etc.

-Two PNG Print Mark files (one with dimensions labelled + one w/out)

Procreate wasn’t designed to be a comic-centric drawing app, but with these small tools I hope it’ll make comic making a little easier for others.
